A few days ago, some friends and members of the Longhouse Coalition, asked my permission to hold a medicine wheel prayer ceremony for me. Of course, I granted that permission. I am honored that my friends think enough of me to want to hold a prayer ceremony for me. They know how troubled I have been this year and how intense my life has become. I am still struggling with some life events, and consequently, some decisions that have to be made because of those events.
My path has remained strong and steady. However, my course on that path has been slightly altered, at least for the time being.
I want nothing more than to continue on the path for peace and healing gatherings, for medicine wheel gatherings and prayer ceremonies. My heart and soul is in the Four Corners praying even though my body is not there, as hoped and planned to be, until my brother in law Kenny passed away. My heart and soul desires more than almost any thing else to be in Wyoming for this year's gathering. I pray I will still make it.
Peace be with you.

Postponed Four Corners Prayer Ceremony
Hello everyone,
By now, most of my readers are wondering about the Four Corners Medicine Wheel ceremony that was planned for early May 2008. It was indefinitely postponed this year due to a sudden death in my family.
My brother in law Kenny passed away suddenly on April 13, 2008. His birthday was yesterday being young in years at 49. My husband Cephas and I left Idaho where we were working and planning the Medicine Wheel gathering and the Wyoming annual rainbow gathering.
Now we are in Willits California area helping our brother and mother get through this grievous time. Kenny's passing struck us all to our core. He is deeply missed. We need to help Mom till she is over the shock of her son's death. No mother or father should ever bury their child.
I have no idea at this time what to say about rearranging this prayer Medicine Wheel gathering. The Great Spirit called me to come to California ten days before Kenny's passing so we could help prepare Mom for this. She was in strict denial and who can blame her. Kenny passed away a week after our arrival to California. We have been assisting with Mom's home and Kenny's apartment, daughter and belongings.
There is one idea that occurred to me about the Four Corners gathering. Traditional Native Americans and Indigenous Elders gathered at a location in New Mexico and a medicine wheel was built through sacred prayer and fasting. Go to this location and fast and pray for four days. Offer the prayers of the nation and the world upon this sacred Medicine Wheel or build another in the vicinity. Do not disrupt the first one or take any objects. Let the Native Elders know that you are coming there to pray. They may want to meet you there. Dedicate the new medicine wheel and let the elders know of its location, should you decide to build one.
Let me know on this website or by email if you are making a prayer vigil to the Four Corners this spring or summer and please give me permission to write about it on this website.
I will be there with you in the spirit as you pray.

Memories of Ochoco Past
The first time I laid eyes on the Ochoco National Forest at Indian Prairie was in mid June of 1997. I traveled by motor home when a man I lovingly refer to as "Luke Skywalker" (passed away two years ago)after hitch hiking with my partner Cephas, known in Rainbow circles as "Raven". We set out to attend a Mountain Man rendezvous leaving our mountain camp in Utah. Information passed on by strangers told us to head into Idaho then westward to find one of these gatherings.
In Salt Lake City, we encountered a young man named Seth, who was searching for a better life than the streets could offer. We urged him to first call his mother to share his whereabouts and his intent to travel with us. Seth was 16. Being a mother myself, I know what its like to have a teenager run away so I did not want Seth's mother to worry. Seth's mother was happy to receive a call and sent him on his journey with her blessings.
A long trek ensued with three of us backpacking and hitch-hiking with three large back packs filled with supplies, food stuffs, and wild medicinal plants that we had been harvesting in the Utah mountains. It was our hope to trade these medicines at the Mountain Man Rendezvous and possibly teach some wilderness medicine. After several nights of getting small rides, walking a lot and exploring the areas where we tred, Seth, Raven and I decided to hold up at a small park in northern Utah in an outlying area of town. It was not the wilderness, but close enough. Here we rested two days.
Knowing that we needed to continue our journey, we set off again heading north into Idaho. Rides were short and far in between. Some of our days were almost fully spent hiking the highways and biways of Idaho or sitting along the roadside with our thumbs out. Food became short, so we used our wilderness knowledge and foraged on the plant life growing around us.
A pack of wild burros offered some enjoyable hours as we veered westward across southern Idaho. It was the first time I had seen a herd of wild burros. Raven really got into petting the creatures and talking to them. I enjoyed watching this unique exchange.
When we began to think we would never find a Mountain Man Rendezvous, or a ride for that matter, along came a motorhome already half filled with people. Luke was driving. He pulled over on I 84 to and yelled, "Need a ride?!" Of course, we said "yes" and piled in. Luke later told us that the Spirit told him to pick us up and take us to the Rainbow Gathering. That marked the first moment that we had met our destiny.
